Very beautiful. But I will always hate the shape of all the Knight pieces because it's not a symmetrical piece like the rest, instead it's a curved shape that represents the head of a horse, when it should be a nice shape that represents a knight.
By the way If I would see this chess set in a store I would definitely buy it.

Thanks man...

I like horses and towers, that's the less abstracted pieces, more "emotionals" and less "logical".

Wish I could buy one of these, magnetized pieces to the metal board would be awesome!

Great design

A very nice modern design. The only odd man out is the knight. He's flat while the other pieces are turned. Other than that I'd purchase a set if it became commercialy available.

Truly amazing! Curious, what program did you did you use to create the meshes and what did you use to render?

I've made it with cinema4d and his inner rendering engine, but I use vray for rendering now, much better in times and results. ;)

P.S. Thanks for comment :D

Hey, no problem. I've been working with Blender. A Bit difficult, but it's pretty good. I've been searching for a more user friendly interface. How does Cinema4D treat you?

I've stop to use it because there was not yet vray for c4d, so I use 3dsmax now, but a friend of mine use cinema4d+vray and he said work much better for him, specially with large number of poly.

I'm using 3ds now, but I'm a designer, so I work almost only on Rhino or SolidWorks for modelling, I use 3ds just for set up of the shenes and rendering.

Oh, then that's an awesome imagination there. I would definately give %150 of what I know about chess in a game with a set like this :D

Beh... smanettare puoi farlo anche adesso.... tanto un sw intuitivo, sopratutto se vieni da Autocad o simili, anche se completamente diverso come risultati ;)

Tra l'altro adesso uscita la 4.0 che devo ancora provare :)

A chess set is always a good test of skill in 3d work and this one turned out quite well. The depth of field on the silver rook seems out of place but I really like the design of the pieces. Simplified down as far as possible while still conveying the form each piece. The texturing too is nice, particularly the board.
